The most valuable benefit for Ukrainians is free housing provided by the sponsor for a period of at least 6 months.
Upon arrival, each displaced person is entitled to a relocation allowance of 200 pounds provided by local authorities.
Moreover, after obtaining a residence permit, Ukrainians get access to the same social benefits that other British residents enjoy. These may include:
- Universal Credit – a payment for people of working age with low income (employed, self-employed, working part-time, or unemployed)
- Pension Credit – extra money to help people over State Pension age (66 years) with low income
- Disability benefits
- Carer’s Allowance for those who care for a disabled, sick or elderly person for at least 35 hours per week
- Child Benefit – extra money to help with the cost of raising a child
